Antarctic ice shelf collapse faster than models predicted

Just saw the new Nature paper on the Thwaites ice shelf - it's retreating at 2.1 km per year, which is double what our best models were projecting even two years ago. The grounding line dynamics are behaving in ways that suggest we're missing something fundamental about ice-ocean interactions.
